Credit Unions are the only democratically controlled financial institutions in the United States. As a member , you and other members elect a volunteer Board of Directors and other committee members to oversee the Credit Union. These dedicated volunteers are fellow members, who serve to determine the long term direction of the Credit Union and ensure that policies are administered and maintained.
Credit Unions are known for educating their members. Resources are available, including money management tools , financial planning, vehicle and home purchase, to help members make informed decisions. Dawson Co-op Credit Union is also a member of the Minnesota Credit Union Network.
Funds are federally insured up to $250,000 by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), a U.S. Government Agency.

To qualify for membership you need to reside, worship or attend school in Big Stone, Chippewa, Lac Qui Parle, Renville, Swift or Yellow Medicine counties in Minnesota. If a family member is currently a member, you also qualify for membership. A $10.00 membership share is required. Once a member always a member, even if you decide to close your membership you may rejoin.
**Important** To help the government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, Federal law (USA Patriot Act ) requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify and record information that identifies each person who opens an account.
What this means for you:
When you open an account, we will ask for your name, address, date of birth and other information such as driver's license or social security card, that will allow us to identify you.
